The Theractivity™ is a collection of Therapy and Activity Books initially created to help mitigate the effects of trauma on individuals, especially children, affected by natural calamities and disasters. Viewed through the lens of sustainable development, these story and activity books have become vital tools in promoting environmental conservation, disaster risk reduction and management, gender equality and equity, and enhancing the socioemotional skills of children and adults too! Globally, natural disasters claim approximately 60,000 lives yearly, while human-induced crises, such as fires, conflicts, and environmental degradation, further intensify the burden on vulnerable communities. The average annual carbon emissions now exceed 36 billion metric tons, contributing to climate change, which heightens the frequency and severity of natural disasters. Moreover, deforestation and desertification are accelerating at the rate of 4.7 million hectares of forests each year, endangering ecosystems. These challenges are compounded by ongoing atrocities against women, children, and minorities in many communities. These storybooks will be key resources in educating and empowering communities in navigating these complex challenges with knowledge, compassion, and readiness.
