This book series exposes 21st-century Filipino students to a language learning journey that is framed within the principles of communicative-functional approach, where students engage in language processes.

• Lays the groundwork for the understanding and appreciation of the carefully-selected literary, informational, and transactional texts
• Allows students to demonstrate competencies, such as critical thinking, problem solving, and collaborative decision-making
• Includes Philippine literature (Grade 7), Afro-Asian literature (Grade 8), Anglo-American literature (Grade 9), and World literature (Grade 10) that allow students to reflect on the essential skills and values that will enable them to cope and thrive in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous, and Disruptive (VUCAD) world
• Consists of microthemes that are in consonance with the advocacies of UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development, focusing on climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction, cultural diversity, and sustainable lifestyles
• Develops learners who are proficient in using English in multiple modes of communication in varied situations, audiences, and contexts
