Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person
Christopher Ryan Maboloc, Ph.D
The title Introduction to the Philosophy of the Human Person for senior high school follows the trajectory as to how philosophy must be taught and learnt by every student. It emphasizes the existential-phenomenological tradition of philosophizing. It also sets a background and context that is appropriate for every Filipino student—his or her social and economic situation. This is very crucial insofar as philosophy as a discipline must prepare students to face the real world.
Philosophy will allow our senior high school students to experience and articulate the real meaning and value of mature thought. Philosophy performs a two-fold role in this regard: critical analysis and character formation. Critical thought is rooted in a point of departure whereby experience unfolds as a rich source of insights. It is through critical thinking that the young minds of our students are opened into the reality of the world, not only for them to explore, but in order for them to realize how and why things are.
